Interestingly, Ed Kroeger, the owner, is a graduate of Urban Community School. He also graduated from Xavier University which is my alma mater.
Farkas Bakery is an old-style European Bakery. Mr. Kroeger bakes the original recipes using some original equipment and some updated equipment. The baked goods are delicious and well-worth the trip to the bakery.
While we were there, he showed the students all of the ingredients and equipment. He even let them roll out dough! We especially studied fruit bats in preparation for the story of Stellaluna. In the story, Stellaluna was carried by her mother one night when an owl came after her mother. Stellaluna was dropped and landed in a bird's nest. I won't give the rest away, because you have to read the book. The story is one of friendship and understanding for someone who is different from what you know.
Our class went to the Ohio Theater in Cleveland, Ohio to see the play of Stellaluna. The students have written reviews of the play. type='text'>Advise from A.D. about Germs

Bless you in a tissue. Don't put your hands in your mouth. Germs can make you sick in alot of ways. Germs are so tiny, you can't even see them. Every tme you touch something you get germs. Then you touch other people, you get germs. Wash your hands very, very, very good (well) every day. Germs hide under your finger nails. Once your done (finished) playing, and you come in to eat your dinner, wash your hands. After your hands are clean, you can shake their hand. After their hands are dirty, you will have germs again. Germs can get inside your body. Bacteria and viruses are two kinds of germs. You need to use a microscope to see bacteria. After you touch dust you get germs.
